Skype is making some changes, but we’re on top of this

Update 25 november 2013:

The latest news from Skype (here):

“Previously we shared that we would retire the Desktop API later this year. However, I’m happy to share that we will be extending support for two of the most widely used features – call recording and compatibility with hardware devices – until we determine alternative options or retire the current solution.”

This means that our Skyprivate plugin will work after December 2013, but we need to wait for those changes and to see how they influence our plugin, then we will update you with the necessary information.

Some of you raised some concerns about the changes Skype announced they will make in December 2013 and the consequences on SkyPrivate’s plugin.

skype api changes

For those of you who don’t know, Skype decided to retire the Desktop API in December 2013, claiming it doesn’t support mobile application development and, therefore, it no longer aligns with their improvement efforts.

This decision will affect all Skype partners and companies who developed their businesses around Skype. This means that SkyPrivate’s plugin might not work starting December 2013.

But we’re on top of this situation and you don’t have to worry. We have actually taken advantage of this decision to develop a better solution. We will create a new software which will not be affected by Skype changes, so all of you who are using SkyPrivate could keep doing their job without any damages.

We are even taking into consideration to adapt the new software to other applications, such as Yahoo Messenger, AIM, Oovoo, so we would like to know your opinion on this: What other programs are you using, besides Skype? Do you think such an improvement is necessary?

Thank you for all your feedback until now and, as you already know, we will keep you posted with everything we do on SkyPrivate.

I am an old model in this industry, since 2008. My opinion is that Skyprivate is an amazing idea, ad an innovation in this industry. The community has to grow, but that will happen over time. Sadly Skype is retiring their api.. thats a pity. I don’t think Yahoo Messenger is an option because their video quality is one of the worst, and they lost a lot of popularity especially amongst adult live videochat consumers. Skype is the most popular, and they offer the best audio/video quality. I never used AIM or Oovoo and I don’t know about their quality. But I never had to use them because none of mu customers used them. So I don’t think they are pretty popular. I think you should do a standalone application, like a clone of Skype, because users need to feel comfortable with the interface, with HD quality video. In those days HD is the most preffered amongst the consumers. They usually avoid VGA cams. I know that from other sites. So my advice is: a standalone clone of skype, with HD quality, and some banners posted on gay forums/sites, general sex sites, etc. You need more customers. I rely on gay customers very much. I have many ideas about this type of entertainment, so you can use the email that i provided here if you want more tips about this work. Good luck with your business!
